THE DEBUNKING

Every year the world of Rotary changes leadership on the first day of the Rotary Year which starts July 1 and  is called the Debunking. It is a Rotary tradition that the event recognizes the outgoing leadership successes and welcomes the incoming leadership.

On July 10, 2022, The Pahrump Valley Rotary Club rejoiced in  the accomplishments of President Eddie Williams along with  the Board and members of the Past year and to give encouragement and allegiance to the newly elected board with President Ed at the helm again for the coming year. In addition, to respect those who have donated their time and energy to Rotary, five honorary memberships were awarded. Debunking is also the time to approve and welcome two new membership. Throughout the event President Ed awarded Certificates of accomplishment to members who completed various committee tasks for the club during his year of leadership which included awarding three Paul Harris awards and a Rotarian of the year.

The Rotary experience of working together to build a better world is punctuated by individual moments that linger forever in our memories.  The cherished moments of our various Rotary experiences are made possible only with the generous and long-standing support of its members and of the entire Pahrump Valley community.

ROTARY INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION

Our club President, Eddie Williams attended the International convention from June 4 to 8th where more than 20,000 service-minded people from around the world  gathered in Houston for Rotary’s 113th annual international convention

The Rotary International Convention is an annual event that attracts thousands of members and program participants from all over the world. It brings the Rotary family together to learn from thought-provoking speakers, exchange innovative ideas, connect with old friends and new ones, and highlight our service that makes lasting change. For the first time, the 2022 Rotary International Convention in Houston, Texas, USA  expanded to invite local residents and like-minded leaders to join the fun and learn what Rotary can do in their communities.

Our newest member, Mark Stallons (far left) the CEO of Valley Electric, presents a check for $6,000 to the Pahrump Valley Rotary Club board members and president. The VEA has an ongoing program to help organizations achieve a goal for the greater good. Rotary has many projects that assist the Pahrump community, such as, Acts Of Kindness, Wheelchair Ramps, Mini grants for school teachers, Together we read program, and many others. One such endeavor by Ed Williams, President of PVR, is to provide a shelter area for the elderly and handicap by constructing an area adjacent to the Nye County Coalition Activity center to provide shade in the summer heat and a solid pathway for walkers and wheelchairs while waiting to enter the building, along with making the area wheelchair accessible The Valley Electric donation will assist in all these endeavors.
